Based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, this new Disney musical tells the story of Jack Kelly, a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life as an artist away from the big city. After publishing giant Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices at the newsboys' expense, Kelly and his fellow newsies take action.
Young people auditioning should prepare a one-minute vocal selection that shows off your voice. You do NOT need to sing a song from the show. An accompanist will be provided.
IMPORTANT: All audition music must be in a book or a three-ring binder, with starting and stopping clearly marked. No loose pages of music or a cappella auditions will be permitted.
A short dance combination will also be taught to those auditioning for roles as "newsies." Those who know how to tap dance should bring tap shoes to the audition.

Though living on the streets has given him a tough-guy exterior, Jack has a big heart and can demonstrate a sweet vulnerability – especially when it comes to bantering with a certain female reporter.
