Please note that ALL participants in an ASTR meeting MUST be members of the Society at the time of the meeting, though this is not necessary to submit a proposal.
Date: Nov. 12-14; Place: Minneapolis, MN
Theme: Geographies of Performance
Plenary sessions: Proposals welcome on any aspect of the production of "a sense of place" or "local color" inside or outside of the theatre histories of spatial practices, localities, and lifeworlds as they are represented by stage productions or other performance events. Questions pertaining to GEOGRAPHIES OF PERFORMANCE may include but are not limited to the construction of regionalism and globalization, travel and tourism, migration and "geopathology," home and homelessness, natural landscapes and cultural ones. Locales may include any place on earth or beyond, real or imagined--an oceanic rim, a continent, a nation, an enclave, a valley, a neighborhood, a mall, an "ethnoscape," a "mediascape" or a "technoscape"--provided that performance may be seen to have a central role in its invention, definition, delimitation, and authentication.
